Dear Pilgrim Friends,

Sabine and I are excited to offer our guided pilgrimage along the St. Olav Way again in July, 2019.
During our 15-day pilgrimage we will walk the beautiful stretch from Dovre to Trondheim on the Gudbrandsdalen path of the St. Olav Ways. The pilgrimage will take us through the majestic Dovrefjell mountains to the Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim.

Below you will find further information about our walk. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. We hope to welcome you to our pilgrimage in July 2018 and share this unique experience along the St. Olav Way with you.

Warm regards,
Sabine and Kari

General Information

Arrival

We will meet in Oslo. You are responsible for arranging your trip to Oslo.

On Sunday afternoon, July 14 we will have an information and get-to-know meeting at the Pilgrim Center in Oslo.

On Monday, July 15, 2019 our group will travel by bus or train from Oslo to Dovre/Dombas, where we will spend our first night at a historic farm in Dovre. We will begin our pilgrimage the following morning by walking into the scenic Dovrefjell mountains.

Luggage transport
Every day your luggage (one large backpack per person) will be transported to our next accommodation. During our daily walks, you will need to carry only a daypack with essentials.

Accommodations
They will vary from simple historic pilgrim lodges/hostels (for example, old historic farms and working farms) to historic hotels/inns, small campground lodges, community houses, or similar.

The accommodations are generally small to medium-sized places. They are not comparable to the huge pilgrim hostels (Albergues) of the Camino de Santiago.

You usually will share a room with several pilgrims from our group. Most of the rooms have bunk beds. The accommodations generally have 1 to 2 or more bathrooms and showers (per gender). Because many pilgrim lodges/hostels are historic buildings from the middle ages and earlier, stairs are sometimes narrow and steep.

You will need a sleeping bag and an insulation mat. Sheets and bedding are usually not provided by the pilgrim lodges/ hostels, or when available, not included in the price. Occasionally, we will sleep on mattresses or insulation mats at our accommodation.

Near Trondheim we will stay overnight at a charming historic hotel/inn, where the women will possibly share double beds. By then we will be acquainted well enough with each other that we feel comfortable doing so. I, Sabine, have stayed there several times with pilgrim groups and it always worked out very well.

Meals
At our accommodations, we will be served breakfast, and most of the time, dinner. For lunch, we will make sandwiches at the accommodations. Our hosts typically provide regional and traditional meals for dinner. Both coffee and tea are provided for breakfast and usually after dinner. Other beverages are not included in the price

Our first meal together will be dinner on Monday, July 15. On this travel day, breakfast and lunch are not provided. On Tuesday, July 30, our departure day, our last provided meal will be breakfast.

Dinner is not included in Oppdal and Trondheim. We will dine at nearby restaurants.

Last Day
Our pilgrimage ends Tuesday morning, July 30, 2019, after breakfast and the pilgrim service at Nidaros Cathedral. You are responsible for arranging your trip from Trondheim to your home or follow-on destination.
